Welcome back to 2025, new refreshed website and final signups for new Communications Centre

Welcome back to 2025

For those who are back on the tools, welcome back to 2025. For those who aren’t yet back in the office, we hope you found the sunshine.

Round Toru, the final round of the 24/25 financial year is open right now, so you’re possibly busy at work on your applications.

A reminder that the closing date is 30 Jan at 4.00pm. Decisions are due Fri 11 April.

We do appreciate that it continues to be a tough environment in screen production at the moment and, as we have tried to do in previous rounds, we will continue to look ‘down the back of the couch’ to see what, if any, additional funds we can find to invest into new projects.

Fresh look for NZ On Air website

If you’ve been here on our website in the past week, you will have noticed some changes. We’ve started the year with a bit of a refresh, to make important content easier to find and primarily to give the Game Development Sector Rebate (GDSR) a home.

The site refresh has been funded out of the admin budget for GDSR, as we were asked to build a website for it when we were tasked with administering the rebate. We felt it was much better use of taxpayer dollars to make some tweaks to our existing site. So the good news is, we’ve been able to bring the project in under budget.

Across our newly refreshed website, what you’ll find is that we have some clever new widgets such as Quick Links to take you directly to important or topical information. Also a new way to display current and upcoming deadlines that is much more user-friendly than a PDF. And on top of that, we’ve taken the time to rewrite and update a lot of content, both to make this more accessible for users and to better explain our strategies.

We hope you’ll find this a much-improved experience. If you encounter any issues, please email communications@nzonair.govt.nz so we can quickly remedy.
