RFP - Reo Māori Content Co-Fund
Te Māngai Pāho and NZ On Air are joining forces once again to fund high-quality, reo Māori screen content for a broad audience.
The content we are looking to support is Aotearoa-centric, engaging and compelling. It will also positively impact on New Zealanders’ attitudes toward te reo Māori by giving the audience an experience of the language that is inclusive and within their reach.
Applications should demonstrate that the project is ready for production, meets a high bar for reo Māori (30% or more), has strong platform attachment, tells an untold story, and can demonstrate that it could not be produced without the support of this funding. It must also have an eligible, established local free-to-air (FTA) digital platform attached.
In this co-fund, we will prioritise:
- Projects that qualify to access the NZ Screen Production Rebate (NZSPR);
- Ambitious Scripted projects with scale;
- Ambitious Non-Fiction projects with scale.
The full RFP can be found here.

Masterclass for Producers
A NZSPR Masterclass for Producers is coming up on 30 September at the Vista Group Offices in Auckland’s City Works Depot from 1-5pm.
The Masterclass will cover everything you need to know about the NZSPR, including meeting the NZSPR criteria, record-keeping, preparing for the provisional application and audits, tax implications, foreign exchange management and more.
This Masterclass is primarily for producers with a full producer’s credit on at least one project that’s already received NZSPR Provisional approval or NZSPR Final approval for a feature film or TV series. Second preference will go to those with a project in advanced development which includes the NZSPR in its funding, legal advisors, production accountants, business affairs experts and funding agency personnel.
Places are limited so you’ll need to complete a Registration of Interest form and send it to masterclass@vistafoundation.co.nz before 23 August. You can find the registration form here.
Successful registrants will be notified by 2 September.
