Three NZ On Air-funded TV programmes have won medals at a prestigious international TV festival proving locally made content is up there with the best in the world.
On the eve of the 100 year ANZAC commemorations, the telefeature Field Punishment No.1 made by Lippy Pictures for TV One last year won a Gold Medal at the 2015 New York Festivals International Television and Film Awards, honouring ‘The World’s Best TV and Films’.
Zeitgeist Productions won Silver in the Travel & Tourism category with Radar Across The Pacific (TV One) and South Pacific Pictures collected a Bronze in the Drama category for The Brokenwood Mysteries (Prime).
“To win a complete set of medals at these highly regarded international awards is an incredible achievement worth noting. These quality programmes all won the acclaim of their audiences when they screened, so it's fabulous to also see them recognised internationally,” says NZ On Air CEO Jane Wrightson.
“We are very proud of all three productions teams. NZ viewers say they want world-class TV shows. There are plenty made right here in NZ,” Ms Wrightson continued.
Two independently funded productions also picked up medals – Life Force 2(NHNZ), Passion In Paradise (Red Sky Film & Television) and Davey Hughes Untamed (Bearclaw Productions and Monsoon Pictures International) was a finalist.
