NZ On Air has announced the appointment of Amie Mills as the public media agency’s new Head of Funding.
Ms Mills is currently TVNZ’s Children’s and Digital Commissioner, co-lead on TVNZ’s New Blood content strategy and is the project lead for the upcoming NZ On Air/TVNZ children’s platform HEIHEI. She has worked in digital production and content promotion in New Zealand and in London for over a decade, including a stint with Saatchi & Saatchi London on a BAFTA-winning game to advance medical research. She also holds a first class honours degree in Media Studies from Victoria University.
“We were privileged to have a number of very high quality candidates interested in this role,” said NZ On Air Chief Executive Jane Wrightson. “Amie was the stand-out choice because her skills complement and add to those we have at NZ On Air. We were looking for a forward thinker, demonstrated strategic ability, and a great team leader, and Amie has these attributes in spades,” she said.
Amie Mills says she is thrilled to be given this opportunity. “NZ On Air’s commitment to championing great New Zealand public media is a personal passion of mine, and the focus on driving innovation to reach new audiences in new places makes this a dream job for me,” she said.
Ms Mills replaces Glenn Usmar who has stood aside for personal reasons but who remains at NZ On Air as Associate Head of Funding. Ms Mills will be based in Wellington and will take up the position on 25 June.
