NZ On Air will fund 23 new music projects in the latest MakingTracks music funding round.
The 23 projects were selected from a field of 128 applications.
There are 17 $10,000 grants for recording a song and making a music video to back up the release of the song, and 6 $6,000 grants for making a music video only.
This is the ninth of 10 MakingTracks funding rounds for the 2015-2016 financial year. So far, we have had 1,197 songs submitted and we have funded 205 projects.
Decisions are based on the broadcast, music and audience merits of the songs that have been submitted, judged by a panel of broadcasting and music professionals.
This is the penultimate funding round of Making Tracks in its current form, as NZ On Air is making changes from 1 July. “We’ll be making some changes to adjust to where the music, broadcasting and online music industries are at in 2016,” says new Head of Music and Radio David Ridler. “Details of the changes will be revealed on Thursday 9th June - so watch this space.”
