The biggest night of the year for the New Zealand music industry will be broadcast live later this year, with the funding support of NZ On Air.
The Vodafone NZ Music Awards will this year screen live-to-air for two hours on FOUR.
NZ On Air is a Platinum sponsor of the awards, and will also this year sponsor the Critics Choice Prize which recognises up-and-coming artists and potential stars.
In the latest funding decisions, NZ On Air will also provide minority funding for a second season of The X Factor NZ on TV3, seeking out undiscovered musical talent.
“We look forward to seeing the stars come out to play at the NZ Music Awardslater this year and we are confident a live broadcast will be appreciated by music fans. And we hope the new series of The X Factor will be as successful as the last at introducing audiences to talented new musicians,” says Jane Wrightson, Chief Executive of NZ On Air.
The Vodafone NZ Music Awards live broadcast and The X Factor NZ are funded under NZ On Air’s Arts, Culture and Performance strand which supports programmes that offer creative New Zealanders a national audience.
