NZ On Air is encouraging New Zealanders to indulge themselves in Kiwi music as NZ Music Month kicks off today.

NZ On Air are champions of local music and talent. The agency backed a diverse range of combined recordings and videos for 148 songs, plus a further 170 music videos alone in the first year of the MakingTracks music funding scheme.

Close to wrapping up the second Making Tracks year, NZ On Air has supported another long list of talented New Zealand musicians. This means there's a great range of music for audiences to enjoy live, on radio, on TV, in recordings and online.

NZ On Air would like to congratulate the NZ Music Commission on their hard work in running NZ Music Month. For those wanting to know more, see their website here.

NZ On Air is also running a number of events in conjunction with NZ Music Month including a series of unplugged shows at the Juice Bar in Parnell. The sessions are recorded, edited and will be broadcast during May. See juicetv.co.nzfor more details.

We're also partnering with the Radio Broadcasters' Association and The Radio Bureau to host a joint New Zealand Music showcase and are sponsoring a session at the annual official NZ Music Month Summit. The NZ Music Commission and NZ Music Managers Forum is organising the session examining the role of radio in the changing music landscape.
