NZ On Air will fund 24 new music projects in its latest MakingTracks funding round.

The 24 projects were selected from a field of 119 applications.

There are 13 $10,000 grants for recording a song and making a music video to back up the release of the song and 11 $6,000 grants for making a music video only.

This is the eighth MakingTracks funding round for the 2014-2015 financial year. So far this year (since July), we have taken in 1,020 applications and we have funded 178 songs.

"On the eve of NZ Music month we celebrate the diversity of the music funded so that New Zealanders can find something local for them. In this round the diversity includes pop, rock, folk, a song in te reo Māori, and Christian heavy metal. Plus many more great tracks you will be hearing soon on the airwaves,” said NZ On Air Music Manager Brendan Smyth.

Decisions are based on the broadcast, music and audience merits of the songs that have been submitted, judged by a panel of broadcasting and music professionals.

The list of 24 projects funded in the April round is as follows –
