Radio New Zealand (RNZ) is New Zealand's only national public broadcaster. We provide RNZ’s annual operating funding, which is ring-fenced and determined by the government. By providing the funding through NZ On Air, the government is at arms' length from the funding

Five student radio stations across the country are supported as a platform for alternative local music: 95bFM, Radio Control 99.4FM, RadioActive 88.6FM, RDU 98.5FM, Radio One 91FM.
