Our funding strategy explained

We make strategic, research-led decisions to ensure our funding supports New Zealand stories, songs and perspectives that reach local audiences.

We aim to inspire, engage, and entertain local audiences with the stories and songs of Aotearoa. We do this by investing in valued, diverse, and discoverable content.

Funding decisions for projects seeking $1m or under are made by a Staff Investment Committee. Projects seeking over $1m are determined by the Board.

To understand more about our funding decision process read about How we assess applications.

Our Investment strategy below describes the four pou (pillars) of Creation, Insights, Discoverability and Capability and how the different funding streams map to these pou.

As part of the Creation pou, which is the largest work area for the agency, there are a number of targeted strategies, linked in the next section.
