Te Paora - Tumanako Productions for Maori Television

A Māori programme is one that makes a conscious effort to reveal something of the past, present or future Māori world. For authenticity, at least two of the three key roles of producer, director and writer/researcher must be Māori.

Principles

We focus on Māori programmes mainly in English, made for the general audience which includes Māori. We promote the Māori language by encouraging its use on mainstream channels.

Māori Language Programmes

Programmes for Māori audiences, focusing on the use of Te Reo, are funded by a separate Māori broadcasting funding agency Te Māngai Pāho.
